About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi, my routing is Cathay Pacific JFK/HKG(no stopover) to PVG ( stay for 4 days in PVG ) , then PVG

to HKG ( stopover 2 days in HKG ) , then head back to JFK,
Do I need a visa for China ?

Since Cathay Pacific requires you to enter and exit mainland through Hong Kong you need a visa. The fact the wheels tough down in HKG makes this invalid. It doesn't matter if its a stop-over or not. You will need a Tourist (L) visa in advance of your trip.
