z-visa application overview

To obtain a z (English teaching job in China), must a person visit application office in person, or can this process be done via post or online? Also, how much time and money does the visa process generally take?

You are supposed to visit a visa office in person, and it usually takes four working days for the processing and costs USD140 per person for that.
