About:Chengdu - Dujiangyan - Qingchengshan Train

Lidui Park is the closest one to Dujiangyan right? Do I need to buy the ticket beforehand?

I am wondering if it is necessary to buy the ticket in advance, especially for return trip to Chengdu. I am not sure how much time I might spend there.

Yes, Lidui Park Station is the nearest one, it is called "Liduigongyuan" on this website. In normal date I think you do not have to buy the ticket in advance. You can do it on the day of travel when you reach the station. If the soft seat sold out, you can buy a standing ticket as well. It is only a trip of 30min. However, if you are travelling during holidays, it is necessary to buy it in advance. Dujiangyan will be popular destination.
