About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hello Hong Kong to Guangzhou

I have a flight on 12th March from Guangzhou to London. Can I travel from HK by TRAIN to Guangzhou east, on the 11th March and stay overnight in a hotel ready for my flight at 9am to London.

Will they give me a 24 hour twov at the boarder if travelling by train from hk to Guangzhou? The train station did not want to give me a ticket from hk to Guangzhou without me having a entry permit. The office in hk for China said they do not know about a 24hour free transit and I would need to talk to immigration at the boarder. They did not have a phone number for immigration, do I risk getting a train less than 24 hours before my flight and being turned back?

There is no such thing as a "24 hour visa". You cannot travel by train to Guangzhou without a visa. You must either get a Chinese visa or fly to Guangzhou airport. If you fly Hong Kong-Guangzhou-London you would qualify for 24 or 72 hours transit without visa at Guangzhou.
