About:China Private Visit Visa

Location of family members when applying for S1 visa

We live in China on a student X1 and my family has the S1. We started a business and are applying for a Z (I'll apply for the Z and the family will get another S1). I'm planning on travelling back to the US alone with all of our passports and documentation and apply for my Z and S1. Does my family need to be in the US when I apply or can they stay in China? Much easier for me to go alone.

They need to be in the US when you apply in the US. But you can try to renew the visa at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. If it can succeed, you don’t need to go back to your home country for that. You can contact them to inquire the details.
