Work permit cancelation/Job changing

Hi! I’m going to end my job in Ningbo and move to Shanghai, my residence permit expires in 2 weeks, and because of my new company slow processing I kinda don’t have enough time to make a new work permit. Now in Shnaghai they told me that I can apply for 30 days stay after cancelation of my work permit in order to have time to make a new one. However, here in Ningbo they have no idea about it. Does anyone know if there is a way to handle this without leaving the country?

I also heard that you can apply for 30 days stay after cancellation of work permit in order to have time to make a new one. But as the Ningbo PSB doesn't know that, you can inquire them what you can do in your case to make you stay in China.

Just FYI, someone did this not long ago and got the "extension" in Shanghai but left China before his new work permit can be issued. As a result, the Chinese High Commission in HK insisted he overstayed his old work permit and wouldn't issue him any visa so he is effectively stranded outside China. If you are planning to do this you should not attempt to leave the country.
