About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am a US citizen traveling to Bali and have two layovers in China.

I have one in PEK for 4 hours with a connection to CAN for 4.5 hours before departing to Bali. I have no intent to leave the airport at either location in China. I am unclear on if this qualifies for the 24 hour transit without visa.

That is fine for the 24 hour transit. 4 hr+ 4.5 hr + flight time between Beijing and Guangzhou is under 24 hours.
