About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My Schedule this March 2019

I will be traveling to Shanghai from Atlanta non-stop on March 11 and I'll stay in Shanghai until March 13th day that I take a flight to Bangkok. On March 15th I fly from Bangkok to Shanghai to catch a flight next day from Shanghai-Beijing-Detroit. Do I need to apply for a visa or can I still use the transit g?

If your total layover in Beijing and Shanghai is within 24 hours on the way back, you can use the free transit. No visa will be needed.
