About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We start a cruise in Singapore then visit Hong Kong and Vietnam leaving the ship in Shanghai.

Our ship arrives in Shanghai at 6am and we fly back to the U.K via Doha at 23.50. Can we get a 24hr visa at the port?

If Shanghai is the port that comes just after Hong Kong then you can get the 24 hour transit at the cruise port. Then make your way to the airport for the Qatar flight. Its a visa free transit, just be careful not to call it a visa or they may think you are referring to something different.
