About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hours stop

Hi,

I'm doing the following trip

London - Chengdu (8 hrs stop) - Bangkok

Bangkok - Beijing (8 hrs stop) - London

Do I qualify for a visa free entry?

Within those hours I would like to quickly visit Chengdu and Beijing.

Is this applicable?

Thank you

You don't need a visa for your transits. Whether you are allowed to leave the airport will be at the discretion of the immigration officer. My guess is that it's more likely to be allowed at Chengdu than at Beijing.

Thank you for your reply. I really want to see those cities even for few hours. Should I apply for a visa to leave the airport? Thanks

That's up to you, although that will add another 110+ GBP to your cost. (The cost of a 2-year travel visa is also the same as the transit visa so be sure to apply for that one.)
