About:China Family Reunion Visa

duration of type L visa

I plan to take my family to china for a two week stay to visit my mother in law who is a Chinese citizen. Would it be better to apply for a L tourist or a Q2. How long do these entry permits last for?

Usually, the duration of stay for L type is also 30 days. Sometimes, you may be given 60 days or 90 days. The consular officers will give you proper duration of stay based on your travel itinerary.

Alexander, thanks for the quick reply. However, my question was actually how long does the visa last for, not how long can i stay. In other words is it a one or two year visa that can be used multiple times?

It's up to the consular officer. They will give you proper duration of stay according to your travel itinerary.

Rosa, thanks for your reply. However, my question still is NOT how long i can stay in China for, but how long the visa lasts for. In other words when i have my visa, can i come in and out of China multiple times over for example, the nest two years. David

You haven’t applied for your visa or any kind, right? Coz if you applied, your questions could be answered. Generally, first time entry in China is always an L and it’s a single entry. The consular decides for how long you can stay in China. The visa should be used within 90 days.

The correct answer is that British citizens will be issued either 3-month or 6-month single-entry visas, or 6-month or 2-year multiple-entry visas. Usually the start date is on the day you submit your visa application. FYI, you must specifically request the 2-year visa when filling out the form, otherwise you most likely will get a shorter validity visa.
