About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Guangzhou to Perth on Business

Hi there,
Asking a couple of questions;
1) I saw that it said that Guangzhou may be extending FREE transit to 144 hrs soon. Does anyone know when this extension will come into place.

2) My flight schedule is via China Southern
Flight 1 - Wednesday 20th Feb PER to BKK via CAN (short transit stop in CAN for 4hrs)
Flight 2 - Sunday 24th Feb BKK 12:00 to CAN 15:50
Flight 3 - Wednesday 27th Feb CAN 14:20 to PER 22:25
Question is - ignoring Flight 1 (and as long as I am allowed to ignore it) does Flight 2 & 3 allow me the FREE transit 72 hrs?

Q3) I will be having a meeting in Dongguan (which I believe is in Guangdong province) but this meeting will be business related. Does the FREE transit period allow for business purposes?

Any help on the above 3 questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul

1. It's been "soon" for at least a couple of years, I think, and no updates recently.
2. PER-CAN-BKK qualifies for 24 hours transit without visa. It will just be a straightforward international-to-international connection at CAN. BKK-CAN-PEK qualifies for 72 hours transit without visa if your passport is from one of the 53 listed countries (you didn't state your nationality). Otherwise it requires a visa.
3. It's quite okay to have business meetings.
