About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I travel outside of Guangzhou on a 72hr transit visa?

My flight is as follows:
SFO> Guangzhou > Denpasar - same route back
I have a 12hour layover in Guangzhou and would like to take a speed train to visit Hong Kong on this layover. Is this possible with a 72hour free transit? Do I need to call the airline in advanced to apply for this, or can I do it in SFO when I am checking into my flight?

It would only work if you fly from Guangzhou to Hong Kong and back. You cannot take the high speed train unless you have a visa. Inform your airline at SFO. It's a waste of time calling the airline in advance.

If you get the 72h twov in Guangzhou, you can travel within Guangdong.
