About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Direct flight to share, and return with transit in europe

Hi, I like to fly from EU directly to shanghai, and for the return, I could book a flight that involves a transit in a European country and then to my home county. I do not intend to stay in the European country of transit.
Is this eligible for 144 free transit?
Is there a minimum number of hours that you need to stay in the third country?

It doesn't matter how long you stay in the third country. As long as you fly Country A-China-Country B it's okay.

Thanks for your answer. So when I apply for the free transit visa at the airport I show the return flight ticket. Which is to the same destination as I just arrived from, but with a transfer, say in Frankfurt, it is ok?

It's not a free transit visa, it's a transit without visa.

Just show your return ticket, then it's ok.

is there any link to an official website where I can find this? Can be in Chinese too.
My concern is that I have to be sure that the ticket booked enables them visa free entry to Shanghai. It is a group, not only me.

Google Shanghai immigration's website. They also have a phone line you can call during Chinese business hours.
