About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

possibility to fly from Beijing to Shanghai with 144 hour visa

Hello,

I will greatly appreciate if you could answer me this question. I am planning to do a roundtrip travel from Houston to Shanghai. Is is possible to do this: USA-Shanghai-Tokyo-Beijing-Shanghai (to return to USA) while using the free transtit 144 hour TWOV? Thank you.

No. Tokyo-Beijing-Shanghai-USA requires a visa if you are in China for more than 24 hours.

USA - Shanghai - Tokyo is fine for the 144h twov.
Tokyo - Beijing - Shanghai - USA is fine for the 24h twov but not for 144h.
