About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Shenzhen Airlines London -> Phuket

Is a visa required to fly Shenzhen Airlines from London to Phuket with a short transfer in Shenzhen SZX?
And same for the return journey? Not leaving the airport.

BTW, It's a UK passport. I'm hoping it's OK as connecting flights are all under 24 hours and the TIMATIC database has been updated to cover #4

Foreigners who have confirmed onward tickets and seats on international flights and directly transit through China and stay for no more than 24 hours within the airport boundaries do not need to apply for a transit visa. However, anyone desiring to go beyond the airport boundaries temporarily should obtain permission from the immigration authorities at the airport.
