Is It Okay to Have CNY Dinner with Friends on New Year's Day?

We are celebrating Chinese New Year with our American friends and wanted to have a big party on New Year's Day (February 5th, 2019). I've read that everyone usually celebrates on New Year's Eve and rests on New Year's Day...is it bad luck to have a party on New Year's Day?

Surely it is ok. In fact, people nearly have a big dinner every day during the festival and there won't be any bad luck.
