About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Able to fly in and get train out

Is this still viable if I fly from London to CAN (Guangzhou) and then get a train from Guangzhou to Hong Kong (and then fly out to somewhere else from HK)?

You need a visa for that. 72 hour transit without visa doesn't apply.
