About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi, can I use the twov for an Australia-Hong Kong- Chengdu-Australia flight?

I would be spending less than 20 hours in Hong Kong and about 36 hours in Chengdu.
Is this possible?

You must, of course, be on the non-stop Chengdu-Australia flight. If that flight stopped in Hong Kong or mainland China then you would need a visa.
