About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I need to ask you some informations and I would be glad if you could help me anyhow.
I will arrive in hong kong from Roma and I will be on a 8 days cruise ending on the 5th of January in Shanghai, i will stay there 1 night and I have my flight back to europe the 6th at 12 am.
Do you know if I would need entry permit? Or if I have a transit available time in China without the use of a visa?
