does my trip qualify for any visa-free transit

Question

Flying USA to Shanghai then to cruise ship—over night in Shanghai on ship. Two days later Quindao port for 12 hours, two days later Tianjin port for 48 hours, then to Japan & South Korea. Ending in Shanghai directly to airport to fly back to USASo does this qualify for travel free transit?

You won't qualify for any free transit in mainland China. You are supposed to apply for a visa beforehand.

Thank you.  I was afraid of that but even the Chinese Embassy would not give me a definite answer
