About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am confused about the exact definition of the "24 hours". Is it the time in transit in the Chinese airports whilst waiting for flight, or does it also include the time of a connecting flight between 2 Chinese cities?
My flight has 2 waiting in airport transit times totalling to 23 hours, however there is also an internal Chinese connecting flight of 3 hours.

It's from scheduled arrival time at the first airport to scheduled departure time from the last one. In your case that sounds like 26 hours, and you will almost certainly need a visa or different flights.
