Prescription Codeine tablets still legal to take into China?

Just been prescribed 30mg tablets for chronic pain joint as I cant take aspirin based medicines.

I know cough syrups containing codeine are banned, but cannot find ANY info on tablets; and from experience I know it is a waste of time asking Chinese Embassy in UK.

We are travelling in a week, so if anyone can point me at a definitive answer, I will raise a glass of Chinese white wine in their name on Christmas Day.

Don't take that, it is illegal in China now. Any tablets or syrup with Codeine is prohibited and it may be regarded as drug traffic.

Well, you can take some but you need a doctor's prescription and declaration is necessary.
