About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 Hour VISA-Free Transit

UK Citizen flying into Shenzhen airport, where I will be for 16 hours, I will then fly on a connecting flight to Wuhan, where I will be for 4 Hours, before flying back to London. Will the 24 Hour Free Transit be applicable, allowing me to leave the airport in Shenzhen?

Flight details:
THU, 03 JAN

Departs: 09:20 SYD SYDNEY
Arrives: 15:50 SZX SHENZHEN

FRI, 04 JAN

Departs: 08:10 SZX SHENZHEN
Arrives: 10:10 WUH WUHAN

FRI, 04 JAN

Departs: 14:40 WUH WUHAN
Arrives: 18:30 LHR LONDON HEATHROW

You could apply for the 24h twov in Shenzhen and Wuhan. You can have a try.

Is there any method of applying the TWOV before going, or can I only apply upon arrival into the airport?

You can't really do anything in advance. In fact, there's nothing to apply for in advance because you're not getting a visa. It will probably all be fine, but you might get some delay when you check-in at SYD because TWOV at SZX is still new, and your two stops take you close to the 24 hour limit. Leave extra time to check-in, and be prepared to escalate to a supervisor if necessary. Perhaps even print the text from Timatic.
