About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

how is china's 24-hour twov calculated for stops in guangzhou and urumqi?

I will be flying from Manila to Moscow on December 28, 2018. I have scheduled stops in Guangzhou (layover 3 hours 55 minutes) and Urumqi (layover 18 hours 25 minutes), counted in hours I will exceed the allowed 24 hours. China Southern (my airline) says my entry pass will be stamped as beginning at midnight December 28-29 so that my arrival and departure from China will both occur on December 29. Is this correct?? I have read that the 24-hour period is calculated from scheduled arrival time in China and scheduled departure time from China. That interval, including flight time, exceeds 24 hours by just under four hours.

Urumqi just allows a 2 hour transit so you have to apply for a visa in advance if your layover is 18 hours.

This itinerary clearly requires a visa.
