About:Beijing - Moscow Trains: K3/ K4

trip next summer

Hello, I would like to take the train trip from Beijing to Mongolia and continue on to Russia (Moscow) next summer. However I would like to stay in Ulaanbaatar, Irkutsk and maybe some other stops for a day or two. Is this possible or the train always comes and leaves each city only once a week? And when staying at some stops longer, do I need to buy separate tickets or can this be booked all together. Also in the map picture there's shown St. Petersburg as well. Is the train going as long as to St. Petersburg?

K3 only runs one time a week. It seems that if you get off at the stopover stations, you cannot back to use it again. So maybe it is safer to buy the ticket separately. K3 does not have a stop at St. Petersburg.
