About:China Visa Fees

What documentation is needed to visit Beijing?

My wife and I are flying from Hong kong to Beijing for two only nights and then returning to Hong Kong.
We will be travelling on Australian passports and the purpose of our visit is sightseeing.
The Chinese Application Office in Perth told me we need to apply for entry permit by submitting an Application form with photo, our Australian passports, and maybe other items of documentation. Plus a fee of course.
I am also reading on various websites that due our length of stay (2 nights) we DON'T NEED entry permit at all.
Can you please advise what we do in fact need.

Your trip HK-Beijing-HK is not a transit, so you need to apply for visit visa for the layover in Beijing.
