About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I use the transit visa in both directions?

Ie U.K.- Shanghai - Hong Kong - Beijing- UK. many thanks

Does that mean I need to apply for a full tourist l before I leave UK ? I was hoping to get transit voa at both Beijing and Shanghai. Is that possible ? UK - Beijing stay 3 nights - Hong Kong stay 4 nights - Shanghi stay 4 nights - UK. Many thanks in advance.

There's no need to apply for a tourist L or a transit G. You will be in transit without visa. Don't confuse airline agents by referring to a "transit visa", which is something quite different, and there is no such thing as a "transit visa on arrival".
