About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Using 72-hour visa for a short trip/vacation?

I am a US citizen living in Taiwan and would like to visit someone in TianJin for a weekend. So would I be able to use this 72-hour twov as a way to visit? Meaning my flight would be roundtrip from Taiwan, say leave on a Thursday and come back on a Saturday. Would I be able to fly directly into Tianjin and use this twov? or would I be able to fly into Beijing and use the bullet train or even a connecting flight to get to Tianjin?

You cannot use the free transit exemption because it's not a transit. You need to apply for a visa beforehand.

You can fly to Beijing and take train oder fly directly to Tianjin, but you cannot fly directly back to Taiwan. But you can fly back via HK (for example). So fly Taiwan - Beijing/Tianjin - Hong Kong-Taiwan
