does shika snow mountain close on the end of february?

Hi, my team plan to visit Shika on the end of Feb 2019. But I just hear some news said it can be closed on that period due to heavy snow? Did anyone have the experience in Shika at that time?

In general, it is opened all year round but maybe closed due to terrible weather, such as the heavy snow. So you can pay more attention to the weather report and the news before you set out.
