will the ticket confirmation code suffice for ticketinformation

I am USA citizen,arriving in shanghai by cruise ship and will spend two days before leaving. a boarding pass will not be issued prior to 24 hours of departure. I will not have a ticket. will the airline confirmation number suffice?
