US to PVG Shanghai to Phuket round trip

Hi. I wasnt to take a trip to Phuket but i have layovers in PVG Shanghai, 24 hr layover on the way there at 16 hr layover on the way back. Do I need to get a visa ? Also will i have troubled leaving Shanghai to US without visa on way back ? I have American Passport. Thanks

You can get 24h twov in Shanghai in both ways. No visa will be needed. Nice trip.
