About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Multi-entry Visa. I am studying in Hong Kong.

So mainland China is very close, and I want go there every weekend. Can I direct apply multiple-entry Visa? Or do I need first apply single or double, and after that multiple?
