About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 Hour TWOV for Australia

Hi

I'm looking at booking a one way trip home from Hong Kong to Sydney. The cheapest option involves flying out of Guangzhou to Xian, and then Xian to Sydney. I was looking at booking a high speed train from HK to Guangzhou, does anyone know if the HSR border control can issue TWOV? If so, the entire itinerary easily fits into 24 hours. Would it qualify?

Plenty of people got into trouble for showing up at the HSR border control without a visa in the last few weeks, so it's pretty much a firm no at this point. Even if your itinerary are compliant immigration still has the discretion to turn you back.

Are there any other options to get to Guangzhou that allow for the TWOV? Ferry, slow train or bus perhaps?
