Please advise if May 1st, 2019 a good day to visit Xian Terracotta Army? Does this place open this day?

From Apr 29 to May 1 is the May Day Holiday in China, and Terracotta Army will still open during that time. However, the spot will be very crowded to be visited, and the traffic will be much heavier than usual. So you are suggested to avoid the legal holidays in China.
