About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am assuming 144hr VISA works for me. Am I correct?

I am US Citizen arriving in Shanghai from Kolkata India (via) Bangkok on Thai Air to board Holland America Cruise Ship for travel to Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, and ending in Hong Kong from where I return to Washington, DC. I will not be visiting any other Chinese city.
