Within the 3 weeks, I also plan to book sperate flights from Malaysia to Bangkok to Phuket and back to Malaysia for the flight back to NYC. I will spend 5 nights in Malaysia and 8 nights in Thailand. You can do both as long as Beijing is your only stop in Mainland China.
