About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Arrive Beijing on flight, depart on cruise.

I fly into Beijing arriving Saturday afternoon Oct 6th. I exit by royal Caribbean cruise lines the next day, Sunday 7th.
Do I need to apply for transit visa in advance or can I arrange on arrival?
Australian national.

i've received new information... it's via Tianjin (not Beijing) and the cruise leaves 28 hours after arrival. However, I can wait at the airport 4 hours before proceeding through customs so as to make it 24 hours or less.

The maximum time allowed is 144 hours so you'll be fine.
