The Invitation letter of Duly Authorized Unit refers to a letter issued by related Chinese government departments, companies or social organizations which was authorized by the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Your friend can give you the invitation for tourist L and you don't need to show hotel reservation documents. But you still need the Invitation letter of Duly Authorized Unit.
