Visiting a friend in China

Hi, I plan to visit a friend in China for a few days and will be staying with her. In this case will round trip tickets (without hotel bookings) be enough? Or do I need some kind of letter from her? Also will the process be simpler if my main objective is tourism or visiting a friend? (I am an Indian citizen studying in Hong Kong)

Tourism is fine. You need an invitation letter from your friend and a copy of her Chinese ID card or her Chinese residence permit plus her foreign passport.
