Question

I'm a Canadian citizen with valid passport.  We have a 7.5 hr layover in Shanghai on route to Sydney Australia.  Would we qualify for the 24-hour TWOV ?

Yes you qualify for the 24 hour transit. Since your stop is under 8 hours the odds of being granted approval to leave the airport and visit the city is extremely small so expect to spend the time at the airport
