36 hours stop over in Shanghai

Hi.
I will be on a cruise starting in Tokyo. Next stop is Shanghai for 36 hours, and after Shanghai is Okinawa. I carry Canadian passport.
I was wondering if I am eligible for 72/144 hours visa free entry to China (Shanghai)?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Its considered Japan > China > Japan so not considered a transit as you must go directly to a different country than the one you arrived from
