About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

From Macau and back

I am attending a friend's wedding in Shanghai next month. I am wondering if the 72 hour free transit visit would be possible if I fly from Macau to Shanghai then back to Macau over 48 hours, or alternatively Macau to Shanghai then return to Hong Kong airport before ferrying back to Macau from HK? Is this possible?

Any advice regarding this would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Macau-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Macau will be fine for applying for the 144h twov in Shanghai.

Thanks Harper! So I just go to the airport or do I apply in advance and I only intend to stay less than 48 hours should I apply for a 144 one or does it happen on arrival? Thanks again!

Also, just want to be sure, Macau-Shanghai-Macau is not an option correct?

Thanks again!

You can apply for the 144h free transit after arrival at Shanghai. Macau-Shanghai-Macau is not a transit, so you cannot use the free transit in this case.
