About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do we need transit visas from NYC to Karachi via Beijng

We are traveling from New York City to Karachi with 10 hours layover at Beijing. We all are US citizen and have US passports except for my mother who has Pakistani Passport with US green card. Will we be allowed to go out of the air port to stay in a near by Hotel until hour next connecting flight. Does my mother need a transit visit? Do we need transit to leave the air port.

The Pakistani Passport holder needs to apply for visa for the transit in Beijing, and the rest of you can use free transit policy. You can go out of the air port to stay in a nearby hotel.

What type of visa is required for Pakistani passport holder for the transit in Beijing (what documents are required?). Do I need to apply for the visa here in the USA or on arrival at Beijing?

A transit G type will be fine, and the requirements are passport and the copy, the application form, a passport-style photo, transportation arrangement, and onward ticket for Karachi. You should make the application from the China embassy before your trip.
