I'm afraid it cannot be enough unless you don't purchase anything.

To answer your question as an Aussie living in China - third trip here & relocating for work: if your accomodation and transport is paid for - you can manage on a 4-5 star western style experience with 200RMB/A$40 per person a day max. This would be enough for 2-3 dishes for lunch and 2-3 dishes for dinner, 10+ cans of beer, and 4 local taxis and even 1x Starbucks coffee or a 1x McDonald’s combo meal /Burger King meal. It’s shockikngly cheap compared to home.

If you want to buy souvenirs, shirts or nicknacks from the markets you could spend 100RMB for one item. Or you could drop a 100RMB between several vendors and walk out of the marker with bags and bags of things.

If you’re not interested in buying super cheap and cool ripoffs for yourself or your family / friends - come with just 200RMB per person per day and you will eat and drink yourself stupid with that amount.

It’s like backpacker budget for 5 star items and service here !
