About:China Visa

Change an 'M' visa to single entry

I have a multiple entry visa and I would like to know if I can change it to only a single entry. I'm already in China and don't want to leave and enter again, so is it possible to cancel the multiple entry. Thanks

You don't have to do that. You can just stay in mainland China within the visa's validity.

But it says duration of each stay: 90 days after entry, and I'm working in China for 6 months, so that means I will have to leave China and enter again but I don't want to leave and enter again. I'm abit confused, any explain would be appreciated, thanks.

If you have job in mainland China, after you get the work Z type, you can apply for the residence permit, which has no entries on it, but it allows you to exit and enter for multiple times within its validity.

Thank you for the reply. Yeah that would make sense, but my visa is not 'Z' work type, I got business and trade M which is type 'M' so I'm not sure if it will work out the same.

You are talking about an extension of stay which will not match your original duration of stay (most people get less than a month's extension, after which they will have to leave the country), so unless you do a visa run (exit to a third country or region, and after returning you will be able to stay for another 3 months) there's no way for you to stay in the country legally for 6 months, as most local immigration offices will NOT grant a second extension unless it is a genuine emergency.
