About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Australia to HK then Beijing to Taiwan

I am an Australian National, flying into Hong Kong for a holiday of 10 days in total. It is my plan to then fly to Beijing for 48 hours and then take another flight to Taiwan. Is this suitable for the 72 hour TWOV or should I get a visa before leaving Australia
