About:China Private Visit Visa

I am married to a Chinese I went home and I came back with a L

is it possible if they can change my L to marriage visa? Also can I go for visa in her home town even though her hukou is from another city?

After you get married, it's possible for you to change the L type into a family Q type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China. You could do that in her home town. Just give it a try.
