Do I need to apply for transit visa to china before my flight?

I will have a transit of 23 hr 45 minutes in china during my flight from Vancouver to Kathmandu Nepal. If plane land 30 minutes earlier to china, does it affect in 24 hours free transit ? or do i need to apply for transit permit prior to my flight ?

If you are Canadian citizen, you can enjoy 72-hour visa-freee tranit in many big cities of China. If you are eligible, you don't need to worry about this problem.
