About:144-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Arrive Beijing by air, depart by train

I intend to arrive into Beijing by air (New Zealand passport), depart by train to Mongolia (exiting China within 144 hours). Visa required?

If "yes", when would the option to use the Beijing train station apply?
